Why do we postpone our obligations?Have you caught yourself despite your intention to stop procrastinating yours?
commitments, yet you spend hours and hours watching TikTok videos or Instagram reels-
here. Recently, there has been more and more talk about the inability of young people to
they face their obligations, so they postpone them.
Procrastination, or in the old Serbian "procrastination", happens to many people. Instead
to sit down and agree on all due emails, at that moment it is more interesting and
it is more important to clean the inbox of unnecessary emails; or you need to cross
a certain number of questions for the exam, hmm, maybe clean the room? Why do we like this?
What's happening?

Some research shows that several factors influence the occurrence of procrastination and
postponement of obligations, namely poor time management, laziness and lack
self control. When pronounced like this, it also sounds too harsh, which leads to yes
many feel bad and add to it all a sense of guilt. To begin with, as in
above all, it is important not to be too harsh on ourselves. As the Guardian writes, 80%
young people postpone their obligations, and even 50% do it often. So if you are
found in this - you are not alone and don't be too self-critical.
The essence of procrastination is that the immediate feeling that makes us happy is much stronger
from the feeling that comes in the long run. In other words, procrastination, that is
procrastination is not a problem of bad time management, but a problem of regulation
emotion. So how do we influence our emotions?
Make your small victories big and be proud of yourself. Advantage of
performing an arduous task must seem greater than the immediate discomfort
facing the same.

Break tasks into smaller steps

The very feeling of knowing that a great task lies before us can lead to it
that we think too far ahead and diminish our abilities. Such tasks
can seem daunting, so the advice is to break them down into smaller steps and each one
a step taken is your small victory. Breaking down those tasks into smaller, achievable ones
steps makes them easier to start and finish.

Make yourself a schedule and set goals - and tell others

It may sound strange, but based on research our reward system in the brain
is very sensitive to social status. There is a greater tendency that people will
do their tasks if they have told them to people. This is also a great way to
we visualize our obligations.

Recognize and deal with the source of your stress

First of all, it is important to recognize the signs of stress that can contribute
procrastination. Then it is important to adopt self-regulation strategies, such as
deep breathing techniques, meditation, exercise or yoga. When you recognize the source
stress, try to face it and solve it. We are often not aware of what is bothering us
we postpone those activities that are not actually the direct cause of our bad
moods.

Work with people and don't be hard on yourself

It is certainly not possible to read an article on the Internet or a conversation
to solve this habit, so try talking to people who may have similar ones
challenges. Working together can help you stay motivated and accountable
to his work. The next time you have an exam and you can't bring yourself to study on your own
in your room, find company and create a working atmosphere for it.
And most importantly, don't be hard on yourself! That the postponement of obligations is happening
to many, the fact that I too have been postponing this text speaks for itself. But know that it can be done
solve! It just takes a little effort, motivation... and maybe a few views
episode of your favorite series. Anyway, don't worry, procrastination is fine
normally, as long as you eventually reach your goal and work towards it regularly
Fix this habit.
