Education as a long-term investment in society
We support young people and improve the efforts of institutions and individuals in creating better conditions for the development of education.
The Studenica Foundation is a non-profit charitable organization that, since 1993, has been working to improve the education of young people, the development of knowledge and enlightenment.
Our work starts from a simple idea: investing in the education of young people has a value that goes beyond the individual and benefits society as a whole.
We support young people and improve the efforts of institutions and individuals in creating better conditions for the development of education.
A society in which knowledge, cultural, scientific and philanthropic values are the foundation of progress.
We support education and people who create lasting value for the community through their work.
We connect scholars, alumni, mentors and donors in a community that gives knowledge back to society.
We achieve our mission through scholarships, educational programs, projects and a culture of giving.
The foundation was born from the desire to turn the knowledge, experience and success of one generation into an opportunity for the next.
Since its foundation, the Foundation has been investing in the education and development of young people, with scholarships as a central program.
The work of the Foundation connects people, knowledge and philanthropic tradition on two continents.
Scholars, alumni, mentors and donors form a community that returns knowledge to society.
Miroslav Majkl Đorđević was the founder and the first lifetime president of the Foundation. His philanthropic work and commitment to the development of Serbian society left a legacy that the Foundation continues.
The foundation was founded by distinguished individuals of the Serbian diaspora in America with the idea of transferring knowledge, experience and success to younger generations.
The foundation is named after the famous Serbian monastery Studenica from 1190, which was the center of Serbian literacy and knowledge for many centuries.
Studenica Monastery, under the protection of UNESCO, is a symbol of enlightenment, endowment and philanthropic tradition of Serbia.
The foundation received the monastery's blessing to use the Student's Cross as its symbol — a sign of construction, growth and progress.
The foundation has administrative structures in America and Serbia, along with a network of advisors, associates and experts who support its work.
