International Women's Day<\/em> or, colloquially, March 8 \u2013 derives its multidimensionality from the struggle for women's rights, the pursuit of equality and liberation from traditional constraints. It originated from the labor movement, and the idea of celebrating International Women's Day appeared for the first time at the beginning of the 20th century, when women's protests against poor working conditions and low wages became visible.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

U Kopenhagenu je 1910. godine organizovana prva Me\u0111unarodna konferencija \u017eena na inicijativu Socijalisti\u010dke Internacionale – svetske organizacije politi\u010dkih partija socijaldemokrata, laburista i demokratskih socijalista. Inicijativa sprovo\u0111enja ideje praznika u delo preuzela je istaknuta nema\u010dka feministkinja i levi\u010darka, Klara Cetkin, te je predlog prihva\u0107en i ustanovljen je International Women's Day<\/em> which aimed to promote equal rights, including democratic suffrage for women.<\/p>\n

We celebrate International Women's Day today in the name of the fight for equality, however, the proclaimed goal is not achieved by giving thanks or recognition to women once a year, and especially not by drawing attention to material values. Every day, steps should be taken and work to establish equality in all areas.<\/p>\n

Due to the Corona virus pandemic and quarantine, the previous year shed light on the problems that women around the world still face - housework, unfavorable conditions for pregnancy and maternity leave, and domestic violence. Although much has already been done to improve the position of women in modern society, we still have a lot of work to do.

\nThe Studenica Foundation strives to preserve a value system based on equality, respect and appreciation. Accordingly, every year it becomes richer for the same number of scholars. Also, we strive to promote gender equality with projects, so every year we support the chess club "Delfin" and the project "Chess Queens", which supports and finances girls who play chess as well as women's competitions.
